Ranjana Markan
Ranjana Markan, an avid believer in the power of natural healing, has built an enviable repository of information on everyday ayurveda. Her take is simple,
a) if the treatment uses herbs one has never heard of or is not likely to keep in one’s kitchen, then it is not likely to be used. People might venture out at 11p.m. to buy a muscle relaxant but will not do so for an aloe vera shoot.
b) again being a homemaker herself, she is well aware that most moms don’t have the time to try out something overly difficult or time consuming. So treatments have to be simple and easy to use.
c) if they are overly messy to apply or bitter to eat, kids will run away.
d) prevention is better than cure!

So, with a B.Sc. HomeScience and a B.Ed. to back her, she tried to cull out the simpler versions of ayurvedic treatments for common problems. It started as a necessity, as a way to ensure her family didn’t have to put up with the harmful side-effects of allopathic treatments as far as possible but now is an interest she makes sure she devotes a good part of her day to.
