Got this simple Home Remedy for common cold from a fellow tweeter(camellia_).
Called Salabat, this is a Filipino home remedy involving brown sugar, boiled water and ginger. Camellia shares instructions on how to prepare this remedy for cold on her blog. Try it out and see how it works for you!
I think we have something similar in Ayurveda that uses honey and lemon juice (instead of brown sugar) with boiled water and ginger. But Camellia’s remedy sounds easier to make…good for the lazy ones amongst us
and that includes me…
Thanks for sharing buddy!

It’s great! The instructions are as follows:
1. Chop a large ginger in half (or use the whole thing if it is small).
2. Peel the ginger.
3. Grind the ginger using a mortar and pestle.
4. Fill a pot halfway with water. Put the ground ginger in the water.
5. Leave the pot to boil.
6. Add some brown sugar to the pot once it gets bubbly. Add moderate amounts first – do taste tests after every tablespoon. Make sure that the mixture isn’t too sweet – the whole point is to make sure the ginger burns the bacteria and phlegm in your throat!
7. Pour into a cup and drink once it’s at a cooler temperature. Don’t forget to turn off the stove!
Note: This mixture can also be used to help relax your throat before singing – particularly important if you will be participating in any concerts or competitions!
